Fir goodness sakes!

I love when a project comes across the production floor that is exciting and challenging. To be honest, most of our projects are exciting and always have a challenging component...but this project caught my eye.

After looking at the materials summary a smile crossed my face as I read the materials list - Reclaimed Fir! How fun! So we jumped in the truck and headed to the local sawmill. After "ooohing and ahhing" at the assortment of lumber we found a suitable stash of reclaimed fir. It has a beautiful straight vertical grain with a few distinctive nail holes here and there. With a clear finish it will be a warm honey color.

We are working on this Reclaimed Fir kitchen as I write this so be sure to check back soon for more pictures of this great project. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Cabinet refinishing - your questions answered

Thank you to everyone who emailed me about their interest in cabinet refinishing. Here are the answers to a few of the questions:

How do I know if my cabinets can be refinished? Karen - Wareham, MA.

"Karen, your cabinets can be refinished if they meet the following criteria:

They are in good repair.
They meet your needs in terms of lay out and design and therefore you require no change.
You are requiring a finish that is compatible with your current finish.

We will work with you on samples to assure that we get a satisfactory result from your refinishing."

I have a few doors that are broken and a drawer that doesn't quite work - can you still refinish my cabinets? Tom - Hyannis, MA.

"Absolutely Tom. In your case, we may need to replace the doors that are damaged with doors of the same style. Because we are a custom shop we can match any cabinet style on the market. And we have many options for hardware; we can update all of your drawer slides and door hardware and also offer you a full line of kitchen cabinet accessories that will give you a new updated look and more function from your existing cabinets without the cost of a new kitchen."

Thanks for your great questions. Please don't hesitate to contact us about your refinishing needs.

Progress Update - Kitchen Cabinet Refinish

There is no greater way to complement your Cabinetmaker/Painter than entering the room and exclaiming "WOW!" A smile crosses our face as we nod in reply while we wrap up the final touches on your project.

This week, at our final day during our refinish project we were rewarded with "WOW". The team, headed by Master Painter Tony Cruz, did an incredible job refinishing a North Falmouth kitchen. From calm maple and light colors this kitchen was transformed into a dramatic masterpiece of browns, reds, warm muslin and black glaze. The combination of a steady and consistent hand gave a uniform finish to the entire kitchen, each piece complementing the next, each color bringing out the richness of the cabinets and showcasing this kitchen.

Stay tuned for more pictures of this great kitchen makeover in the upcoming weeks!

We Manufacture Cabinets - but that's not all!

Recently, we placed a sign outside our showroom that says "WE MANUFACTURE CABINETS!" Yes, we do manufacture our own cabinets. This often comes as a surprise to our customers when they come in our showroom, peak through the "kitchen" window and see Chestnut Bay Cabinetmakers and Staff working diligently on a customer's project.

But, that's not all we do. When a North Falmouth homeowner came in one day and said "I don't want new cabinets, I like my cabinets, can you refinish them?" When Bob Adams replied without hesitation "Absolutely" she couldn't believe it.

Here is a picture of her kitchen before. Stay tuned, you won't believe the afters!
